In November, the number of whooper swans spotted in Shandong Rongcheng Whooper Swan National Nature Reserve had climbed to 2,300, signaling the arrival of the best period for catching a glimpse of these majestic birds.
At present, whooper swans are mainly clustered in Swan Lake and Yandun Point. As the temperature continues to drop, more will arrive. With the arrival of swan season, Weihai plans to hold a photography competition for whooper swans and open themed bird watching paths, so that visitors can get a chance to feel the charm of whooper swans up close. In addition, the whooper Swan Science Museum is presently under renovation. With an investment of over 2 million yuan (approx. US$280,000), the Rongcheng Haoyunjiao Tourism Resort will deploy virtual reality technology to heighten the experience for visitors.
